Vice Presidential hopeful Governor Sarah Palin recently disclosed that she hid her last pregnancy. Her closest aides were not even aware that she was expecting until the last few weeks of the pregnancy. 
Governor Palin explains that she kept her status a secret because she herself was struggling with the fact that her baby would have special needs. She was also afraid of what people might say when they found out that she was pregnant.
To effectively hide her pregnancy Palin wore loose jackets and big scarves. Palin was photographed by Vogue in January wearing an oversized parka. Even then, no one would suspect the governor of being pregnant. Palin continued working throughout the pregnancy. She even managed to deliver a speech in Texas despite the fact that her amniotic sac was already leaking. Palin made it through and then boarded a 10 hour flight back to Alaska. She gave birth to her son Trig Paxson Van Palin the next morning. Trig is diagnosed with Down Syndrome.
The governor and her family have fully accepted her youngest son. They now consider him to be a gift from God. There may be challenges ahead for all of them, but they know that they will make it through.
