Controversial “pregnant man” Thomas Beatie gave birth to his second baby on Wednesday morning. The baby was delivered through “natural methods” and in healthy condition.
Sources have been quoted saying that Beatie and wife Nancy have not yet named their second child. It will be the latter who will do the task of breastfeeding the newborn, the same setup with their first child, Susan Juliette, who was born a year ago.
Beatie made headlines last year when photos showing him with a pregnant belly created media buzz and even got the title as the world’s first “pregnant man.”
The 35-year old man, who was born a woman named Tracy, had sex-reassignment surgery years ago and had his gender legally changed to male in Hawaii. Despite the surgery, he decided to keep his female reproductive organs. This was due to the couples’ decision that he will be the one to bear the children since his wife could not do so.
As part of expecting their second child, Beatie revealed in an interview that he stopped take male hormone testosterone in order to proceed with the second pregnancy. Everything went well according to plans.
