Tomono Davies, a working mom who originally came from Japan, has launched a business of Japanese-style baby clothes that will surely catch the attention of British clients.
In an interview, Davies said that she’s confident that British parents will patronize the Japanese-style baby clothes because they are more functional than the traditional Western clothes.
She said she came up with the idea when she had her first son, Oscar, who’s almost 2 years old. She met her husband Lewis while the latter was working in Japan.
The clothes she made usually wrap around the child which makes it easier to place on and take off. Plus, she added it is cost effective because these clothes can easily adjust with the continuing growth of the child, as opposed to traditional ones that will have to be replaced in a year’s time.
The kimono-inspired clothes are common in Japan but will now attempt to make a following in Britain.
